Today, Dolphin Research Center welcomed a new family member. At around 3:27pm, staff, volunteers, and guests cheered on Santini as she gave birth to a calf.

Amazing I got tears such a beautiful video that not many to see thank you <3
Santini is my adopted dolphin! What is the calf's name?
Good Job Santini!!! We visited a couple of weeks ago and my lil girl has been anxiously awaiting this day. She was so excited when we got home today and she saw this news. Any chance Baby will be up for "adoption" before Christmas?
Thank you for your good wishes. We're sorry but we normally wait until the baby reaches his or her first birthday before they are available for adoption. If, for some reason, this happens before, we will definitely let everyone know.
The baby won't receive a name for awhile. First, we need to confirm its gender. Then we also like to see a little of its "dolphinality" emerge. If you have any suggestions for us to consider, please post them to our Facebook page or email them to us and we'll keep track!
Great news! My suggestion is that he be named 'ORG',a male name, easily remembered and with his own Web-site [DOLPHINS.ORG]... this seems to be a no-brainer! Thanks for your consideration and best wishes to your whole crew in keeping him healthy. Tom Finney, Key West.
I think the little wants to be called Mecca.
We are so excited for Santini!!! This is beautiful! We were just there after Thanksgiving for my daughter's Make-A-Wish, and Santini painted our shirts:) Is there a way for my daughter to adopt her little guy?
Hi, Alisia,
We're sorry but babies are not available for adoption until after they turn a year old. His mom, Santini, and older brother, Tanner, are available.
So glad you recently visited and had a good time. Thank you for your support and enthusiasm.
I think that if the baby and Louie are friends and if he gets along we'll with other dolphins than you should name him Krewe as in the krewes at Mardi gras in New Orleans.
Thank you for the name suggestions. The new baby has been named Reese in honor of his grandmother Theresa.
